The Client

Koinonia Family Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to equipping resource parents for the challenges of caring for foster youth who come from difficult backgrounds. Their mission includes facilitating family reunification whenever possible and providing trauma-informed training and extensive support to their resource parents. Koinonia maintains a highly-relational culture throughout their organization, emphasizing the importance of connections with foster youth, staff members, resource parents, county workers, and birth parents to promote healing and permanency.

The organization offers various services to foster families, including monthly monetary reimbursement, 24-hour support services by master’s level social work staff, continuous specialized training, and support for the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of the youth placed in Koinonia-certified homes. Additionally, Koinonia serves as a reliable advocate and information source for foster youth, families, staff, and counties, striving for better-informed management, governance, and representation at all levels of care.

Challenges

Koinonia Family Services approached Ace Studios seeking assistance in revitalizing their online presence. Their existing website suffered from outdated design elements, poor search engine optimization (SEO), lack of mobile-friendliness, and non-compliance with ADA accessibility guidelines.

Koinonia recognized the need to enhance their website to effectively communicate their mission, engage with various stakeholders, and streamline the online service inquiry and donation processes.

The Ace Studios team is pleased to learn that the Renown Health Annual Report website design we created for Renown Health was recognized among the leading healthcare organizations in the U.S. for achievements in digital communications in this year’s eHealthcare Leadership Awards!

These awards honor the very best websites and digital communications from a broad spectrum of healthcare organizations. Winners of the 21st Annual eHealthcare Leadership Awards were announced Tuesday, Nov. 17 at a virtual conference.

An expert panel of judges awarded the Renown Annual Report website with a Platinum award in Best Annual Report or Special Section, in recognition of Renown’s 2019 annual report, Thank you Nevada.

 “We are so grateful to Renown for entrusting us with this crucial project, which helps the community understand the great work that they do to Fight the Good Fight and save lives every day,” said Kurt Thigpen, CEO of Ace Studios.

 Winners of Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Distinction awards represent 18 industry classifications, from hospitals and health systems to pharmaceutical firms and medical device companies. A total of 114 healthcare digital marketing experts judged the entries.

 The annual report, Thank you Nevada, was produced by Renown’s in-house Marketing & Communications team; co-led by Scott Walquist and Emily Stott, project managed by Renee Elia, distribution planned by Colleen McLellan and written by Chad Norton. Collaborators included design by The Solutions Group, digital and web design by Ace Studios, and Dynagraphics printing.

Northern Nevada Legal Aid

The Organization

Northern Nevada Legal Aid is a nonprofit legal aid organization serving qualified residents in Washoe and surrounding rural northern Nevada counties. Legal aid is free or low-cost advice, assistance, or representation in civil matters for those who could not otherwise afford an attorney. Its goal is to eliminate barriers to access to the legal system for our society’s most vulnerable members to protect their rights, keep them safe and provide stability. It also provides legal system efficiencies by decreasing self-represented litigants.

They came to Ace Studios needing help with rebranding their entity. After 50+ years of operating in Washoe County, they needed to communicate that they are available to help anyone in Northern Nevada, but their brand and website didn’t reflect this message.

Ace Studios needed to achieve the following to measure success:

  1. Design and develop a new website in WordPress.
  2. Make sure the website is meets WCAG and ADA compliance.
  3. Collaborate with key stakeholders to come up with a new name for the brand.

The Client

Mikalee Byerman is a nationally-renowned author, copywriter, blogger, public speaker, and humor strategist that works with individuals and companies from all walks of life to improve their way of thinking and doing from a human-centered approach.

She came to Ace Studios needing help as she was leaving a steady job (we’ve been there before) and going out on her own to start this next chapter. She needed a website that perfectly bottled up all of her passions, and services to help reach her audiences.

Ace Studios needed to achieve the following to measure success:

  1. Design and develop a new website in WordPress AND migrate over her existing WordPress blog posts and audience with over 3,000 subscribers (the pressure!).
  2. Set up a new Blog & email list and integrate a subscription form within the website for some handy dandy newsletter building at conferences she’d be speaking at.
  3. Incorporate updated photography (with pineapples)
  4. Create a new logo design
  5. Make it mobile-friendly!
